A floating fish farming station will be established on Lake Victoria at Kayenze Ndogo Beach near Mwanza. The goal is a sustainable tilapia farm powered by renewable energy and featuring zero-emission logistics. The facility will serve as a prototype (Living Lab) for research, training and optimization, leveraging local resources and fostering social inclusion.
The energy supply is 100% emission-free, provided by photovoltaics and sodium-ion battery storage. A continuous monitoring of water parameters ensures fish health and provides early warning in case of problems. Sensors report critical threshold values and enable data-driven decisions.
Electric motors supplied by swappable sodium-ion batteries are used for feed transport, fish harvesting and personnel transportation.
